Studying at a culinary school has been a rewarding experience and I would like to share my experience with you guys as well. Being at culinary school has taught me a lot about playing with recipes, finding my passion and taking the world of being a chef seriously. Today I am a renowned chef at one of the leading five star restaurants in India. But it all goes back to the culinary school in Kolkata where I graduated from. Let me share with you guys seven lessons which made me the successful chef that I am today! Never Forget to Experiment I will never forget how our teachers always inspired us to follow our dreams and be experimenting. They never stopped us because our ideas were too new or abrupt. Most of the experiments I did back then were a failure but it taught me to be more confident in myself. Now that I am a professional, that small experimenting attitude helps me add a special flavor and touch to my food. It becomes distinguished and stands tall in front of the other competitors. Investing in the Right Culinary School I graduated from SBIHM, Kolkata. Honestly, I do not think I would have achieved the success that I have today had I not chosen this institute. I learnt it very early on in my career that investing your education in the right institute is very important. I got a direct placement at the restaurant that I am working now. I got to take up magnanimously enriching internships which benefited me. In all, it was worth the time and money. A good institute stands behind you and helps you become the best version of yourself too. Good Practice Shows in Your work A lot of people take practicing very lightly. They do not understand the core importance of practicing hard enough. You can drown in a pitfall of slump if you do not practice hard enough. Culinary schools teach you the value of hard work every single day. If you are not on your A game, there will be someone else who will replace you. Good practice reflects in the food you cook, the management you show and the overall efficiency of the kitchen. Keeping a Clear Head People often lose their sanity over maintaining a clear head. This mostly happens because you are either trying too many things at once or unfocused. Both of which are going to end up towards disaster. So before I start any important work or step in the work environment, I make sure that I have a clear head and am keeping the focus straightened prior to beginning with any kind of work. That has really helped me become the person I am today. Know the Science of Food Culinary courses are designed to teach you all about the ingredients in such a manner that you know the science behind it. Understanding the science is really important if you are willing to go ahead in your career. Therefore, focus in your course if you really wish to make it big in your career. Continue Learning For a chef, learning never ends. It does not end with your course. You should keep an open mind and continue learning even when your degree period is over. Watch YouTube videos, read cookbooks, take a Master Class but never stop learning. It is going to help you stay at the top of your game at all times. Love your Job Getting to be a chef is really a blessing in all shapes and forms. The pay is good, your work is fun and creative and you get to make food for a living. It is an elite job where your status will also be high. Once you start loving your work, it will become much easier for you to navigate the tasks. Only people who resent their work suffer. If you love the work you do then nothing can stop you from being the best. Comments are closed.
